Space Installation; Painted discarded chestnut trees, ink and watercolor paintings on rice paper; 35' x 70'
Where ink meets sky created during The Schoolhouse awards fellowships over a two month residency. Focused on the balance of human culture with the natural world, I was inspired by the land itself to create a space just as grand, allowing the viewer to walk in and explore.
"Juliann Wang’s magical exhibition (which opened Sunday in the Art Room) showing her personal encounter with the Great Wall and the skein of villages at its foot around Mutianyu. Juliann has been our artist in residence for the last two months and we wish we could keep all of her works for ourselves."
