within the forest
Cut paper sculptural installation; 6' x 17' x 10'
Within the Forest originates from a simple desire to bring good wishes and hopes to everyone in the community during this time of political and cultural transition. It is based on a story from my childhood. The “forest” itself represents renewal, hope, calm, and possibility, emerging from two scrolls of white paper I cut by hand to create images that bring the story to life.
Visitors are welcome to enter the sculptural installation, and write down their wishes and hopes for others on one of the hand cut "Ginko Leaf" shaped slips of paper, leaving with the sculpture to be collected and passed on at the closing ceremony event.
