Delving Inside: A Journey Through Sound
Juliann Wang is a Chicago-based multidisciplinary artist, who’s music is an extension of her interdisciplinary practice. Through creation, she redefines the boundaries of music type, establishing a dialogue between freedom, self-discipline, and inner self. The artist uses herself as a carrier of detection and perception, measuring the emotional energy of a specific performance, painting with sound to creating composed yet spontaneous auditory spaces.
Working solo and with collaborators she focuses on the beauty and sensitivity of hyper-acoustic instrumentation, drawing listeners into a meditative and evocative realm of Asian fusion and contemporary sound. Bringing musicians into close conversation, Juliann created sessions that unfold in a dialog of composed and improvised creation that melds familiar structure with sonic poetry to invoke landscapes real and imagined.
